Catherine's Corner

Catherine Martin The story is told of a tightrope walker who asked the crowd below if they believed he could push a wheelbarrow across the tightrope. They exclaimed, "Oh, yes! We believe you can do it!" Then he asked, "Who will be the first to get in the wheelbarrow." The crowd became silent. The crowd said they believed, but no one was willing to put their trust in the man and get into the wheelbarrow.

Have you ever felt as though your circumstances are so challenging that you need the kind of trust in God that gets in the wheelbarrow, so to speak? Do you sense the need for a new and deeper trust in God? What’s the secret to an abiding trust in God? The key that unlocks the door is knowing God’s names and thus, knowing God. You can’t trust what you don’t know. But you can rely on your God when you know how great and powerful He is. Psalm 9:10 teaches us that those who know the name of God will trust in Him. That’s a promise for you and for me.

This year our theme in SCC Women’s Ministries is Know Him…Trust Him. In every situation our goal is going to be to draw near to God, know Him, and ultimately to trust Him. When you trust God you are going to see Him do great and mighty things that only He can do.

Our Women’s Ministries offers numerous opportunities for you to draw near to God and intimately know Him. You can find out more by clicking on the Bible Studies and Ministries links.

My prayer for all of us in 2008-2009 is found in Psalm 20:7, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.” May we all have that kind of trust: total reliance under stress and trial. God bless you.
